    Hi Mike,

Below is a rough draft or preliminary of what I have built on the Gough Family of "DAVIESS COUNTY INDIANA" I often abbreviate with DCI. I got this far and got switched to another branch of the family.

Yes, Ignatius's family came here, and with who or why, I am not clued into yet. Possibly because the land opened up so reasonable, and so many of the MD to KY group moved together. It is guessed about 1/3 of the original group moved on to Indiana. My searching on the Gough's started with Scholastica, married to William Brown, mother of Sarah Brown, married to James W. Grannan. I haven't completed the database, and Sandy Olin is helping me with the Gough/Brown/McGuire names, and soon as we get a few more Grannans out of the way. Sandy is a Grannan descendant too.

I took time to see what your postings, and the others well. All of you covered a lot of ground on the Goughs since I posted. That is so great. I have found Sarah's grave, but not Ignatius's. The stone must be gone. Her's is flat, under a tree. And Scholastica's is just down the road from them, with her son and his wife.

Let me know if there are any questions.

I am very familiar with Evansville, lived there for 4 years, grew up in Perry County, 50 miles away. I now live in Texas but visit every year.

Ancestors who served in or supported the American Revolutionary War

Researching the pioneer settlers of Osage County has led to the identification of the following Revolutionary War ancestors. Descendants of these individuals able to document this relationship and service would be able to apply for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution or Sons of the American Revolution:

    · Charles Gough, b. 1756, d. 1826, son of Benjamin Gough.

First I will to my beloved wife Mary Gough my plantation as long as she lives. And at her death to be sold and equally divided among all of my children. I also desire that my son Ignatius live on the place and take care of his mother as long as she lives if they can agree but no longer then they can agree.
Item two, I also will to my wife one bed and as much furniture as she may want for her bed.
Item three, I will to my daughter Julia my gray mare and yearling colt mare then the rest of my children.
Item four all, the rest of my property to be sold and equally divided among all of my children.
My reason for leaving Julia more then the rest is for services she has rendered to the family.
Item five, I will to my son Isadore a small piece of my land where he now lives to run up the branch where the old still house stands to include the rock spring and then in such a direction as to miss the cleared land and strike the Lancaster line.

I know that the second wife of Matthew Daft was Elizabeth Bloomfield whose mother was Ann Daft, aunt of Matthew, but this isn't the connection. Elizabeth Bloomfield married first, Mark Herbert and she was married to him until his death in 1739. She wasn't married to Matthew Daft until 1739/1740.

12/22/1740: Admin. accts. of Mark Herbert, SMC. Sureties: Enoch Combs, Edward Cole. Execs: Matthew Daft and his wife Elizabeth Daft, Francis Herbert.
    >
Matthew Daft had been married prior to Elizabeth Bloomfield and had three children: William Daft who married Elizabeth Gough, widow of William Bould, and daughter of James Gough and Elizabeth Jarboe; Eleanor Daft who married James Roach; and John Daft, born 1736 and living as late as 1751.
    >
My guess, at this point, would be that the first wife of Matthew Daft was a daughter of Benjamin Gough or that he married Monica Gough, Benjamin's sister. Your thoughts?

The younger ones would simply have received a share of his personal estate.
