      I bet this is my John. In the 1870 Scotts Hill, Decatur Co., TN census with her father, Christopher's wife is "Julia A.C". In subsequent census records she's usually Catherine. John's brother, Christopher died in 1906 so Catherine would have been a widow and John's wife (Catherine's sister) Mary Ella died in 1917, John was also a widower. They obviously were a close family since the GOFF brothers married BRAWLEY sisters and the Christopher was living with John & Mary Ella in 1870.

      Wondering if a John Riley BRAWLEY was related to mine, & seeing no direct relation, I wondered if John Riley was a famous person. There was a "hero" of this time, but I don't know how folks in TN & MO would have related to an Irish deserter of the American army who fought for the Mexicans.
