Mr. Ewing Goff,
A celebration of Mr. Ewing Lafayette Goff will be conducted on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at 10 AM from the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Carl McKellar officiating. The committal service will be held at 2:00 PM at Scotts Hill First Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
Mr. Goff, age 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2006. Mr. Goff, who had been declining in health for several months, passed away at home with his children and relatives present.
Mr. Goff lived in the Jackson area since 1951. He was born on September 14, 1911, in Scotts Hill, TN., the son of the late William and Ida Smith Goff. Mr. Goff was the last surviving member of the 1929 Scotts Hill High School state championship basketball team. He was a devoted member of the Bemis Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Goff was a production supervisor at the Milan Arsenal for many years, including the World War II and Korean War era. He was also in the timber industry as well as being an active farmer and gardener.
Mr. Goff was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jewell Hazel Eason Goff and his son, William Cleo Goff. He is survived by four children, Ewing Elco Goff, Linda (Bill) Farmer all of Jackson, Kaye (Pat) Roberson of Helena, AR., and Jerry Eason (Carole) Goff of Nashville. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Grandsons, George, Jerry II, Jonathan and Jeff Goff, Patrick, Jon and Chris Roberson, will serve as pallbearers. Members of the usher staff and the Men's Bible Class of Bemis Pentecostal Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be directed to the Bemis Pentecostal Church Building fund.
