  • Notes
    • Stephen Gough was only married once as far as I know--to Ann. When Stephen Gough made his will, he referred to his wife but didn't give her name. However, Ann Gough died in Washington, D.C. in 1812 with a will:

Son, Peter Gough (in trust) a negro girl called Milly to hire out the said girl and her increase during the life of my son William Gough and after his death to be equally divided between William's four sons--George, John, Benedict, and William. Son, Bennet Gough 12 each silver tablespoons and teaspoons, one pair silver sugar tongs, and one silver soup spoon. Dau., Celia Gough 10 shares in the Bank of Columbia; should she die without heirs five shares to son William and other five equally divided between my other children--Joseph, Peter, Stephen, Bennet, and Ann. Residue of estate to my three youngest children--Stephen, Bennet, and Celia equally. Exec: Son, Peter Gough. Wit: Gerard Newton Causine, Joseph Harris, William T. Maddox.

This is the James Gough who was married to Priscilla Heard, more of my great g... grand parents.
