      Will of Benjamin Gough, SMC, 3/20/1774-9/1/1774.
      Son: Charles, Exec., all my land. Daughter: Rebecca, a negro boy Stephen. Daughter: Mary, a desk. Daughter: Brittania, a 4' chest. Son Charles to take care of son Jeremiah until he is 16 years old and then to be bound out to a trade. Wife: Susanna, Exec., all my estate during her life and at her death equally among my five children -- Charles, Mary, Rebecca, Brittania, and Jeremiah Gough. Wit: John Greenwell of James, Rodolphus Norris, Vincent Inge. Rodolphus Norris and Vincent Inge state that they did not think Benjamin Gough was of a sound mind. John Greenwell of James states that he does think he was of a sound mind.

      1. BENJAMIN GOUGH, JR (BENJAMIN3, STEPHEN, WILLIAM1) was born in St Mary's Co., Md, and died Bef. September 01, 1774 in St Mary's Co., Md. He married SUSANNA NORRIS in St Mary's County, Md, daughter of JOHN NORRIS and ANN JENKINS. She was born 1732 in St Mary's Co., Md, and died 1774.

      Notes for BENJAMIN GOUGH, JR:

      Benjamin Gough wrote his will on 3/20/1774 and it was probated on 9/4-1774. He named his son Charles as his executor and left him all his land. To his daughter Rebecca he left a slave. Th his daughter Mary he left a desk. To his daughter Britann he left a four foot chest. His son Charles was to care for his son Jeremiah until he reached the age of 16 and then he was to " bebound out to a trade". He name his wife Susanna his executrix and she was to have all the estate during her life. At her death the estate was to be equally divided among his 5 children. The witnesses of his will were divided as to whether he was of sound Mind.

      His children moved to Nelson County, KY

      26 Apr 1823 - Indenture between Mary Smallwood one part and Britain Vize and her children named Serena, Beatrix, Charles. William, Ellen, Jerome, Benjamin, who are also children of William T Vize other part - witness that Mary Smallwood for love that she bears her 7 children and $1.00 - give one male slave named Reuben age 25 and appoints her brother Jeremiah Gough of Washington Co and in case of his death appoints Walter Pike to succeed him as trustee and restrict said Reuben to work at any salt works or go out of state or to Maryland.
