      Howard C. Goff, private, enlisted or inducted June 27, 1918 Kingwood , WV, Aug 22, 1918 to April 13, 1919 in A.E.F. Knowledge of any vocation: farmer. Wounds none. Physical condition good. Typhoid prophyloxia July 17, 1918. Paratyphoid prophyloxia completed July 17, 1918. 12th Co. 3rd Bev 155DBFW, 3627332 Private Co. Infantry Regiment. He had grey eyes dark brown hair, ruddy complexion was 5 ft 8 inches in height. Camp Lee Virginia 26th April 1919, A.E. Dalley, Mjr. Infantry, S.A.

      Recollections from his son, Ross Goff:
      Howard Goff worked as a coal miner in the Tunnelton, WV area as a young man and boarded with Lucinda Fortney. It was during this time that he met her daughter and his future wife, Merle Fortney. After moving to Morgantown in about 1924, he worked at Ogden's scrap yard. In 1936, he received a bonus from Ogden and used it to buy a truck to go into business on his own. He worked with a man known as "Huck" buying and reselling scrap metal until when he retired.
