The information you were provided on Ellen Gough is wrong. Dr. William Joseph Edelen was married twice. His first wife was Eleanor "Ellen" Leigh (1810-5/4/1845), daughter of Arnold Livers Leigh and Elizabeth F. Fenwick. That's the marriage that occurred on January 23, 1827. Ellen Leigh died May 4, 1845 and then Dr. Edelen married Ellen Gough on February 5, 1850 in Baltimore. Ellen Gough (12/17/1816-10/28/1895) was the daughter of Peter Gough and his second wife, Ann Dixon and she was the granddaughter of Stephen Gough and wife, Ann. Therefore, Ann Gough was the aunt of Ellen Gough. Richard J. Edelen (husband of Ann Gough) was the father of William Joseph Edelen (husband of Ellen Gough), by his first wife, Clara Ford, also of St. Mary's County.

Ellen Leigh Edelen was the daughter of Ellen Gough. Her husband's full name was Joseph Francis Ignatius Morgan, son of Joseph F. Morgan and Catherine Abell. Joseph Francis Ignatius Morgan died July 15, 1905. They say he was born in Morganza, but he was more than likely born in Leonardtown as his father was an innkeeper there.
