Joseph D. appears in the
1840 Census of Woodford County, KY(very close to the Scott Co. Line[1 male 20-30, 1 female under 5 and one female 15-20].
Record of marriage to Ann Savilla Jenkins found in minister's return 7 June 1836 (Scott Co. Courthouse fire destroyed all other records). Courtney Jenkins, Gough, Tarleton, Medley, etc. families lived in White Sulphur, Scott Co. and many are buried there in cemetery across the road from one of first catholic churches in KY but not Joseph D.
Much of this is related in local histories but not the father of Joseph D.Gough.
Ann Savilla appears in 1850 Scott Co., KY Census with Coumbia f. 13, Robert m. 11, Josephine (my gr-granm.)f.7 and Joseph m. 5 next door to her mother, Elizabeth Tarleton Jenkins (1785-1862, w/o Thomas Courtney Jenkins 1805 marriage).
Ann Savilla, widow, remarries George Allgaier Jan 10, 1856 on Film #021684, Family His. Library, Salt Lake City.
Ann S., Josephine and Robert J. all our buried in Calvary Cemetery, Lexington, KY where my grandfather was superintendent for a time in early 1900s.
Recent obituary in local paper Oct. 26, 2003:Josephine T. Gough, King George VA widow of Lt. Col. Richard M.Gough USAF Ret. & mother of Robert J. and Diana Gough, lived for a time in Georgetown, KY may be related. Left message in Legacy.com but have not responded.
The Joseph Gough s/o James Gough & Rebecca Woodford County is not his father. This Joseph (Henry) moved on and I believe married Mary M. Gorin Jan. 23, 1844 in Logan Co., Kentucky. I have a copy of this James Gough's Will and there is no mention of Joseph D.
Josephine Gough b. abt 1843 and Joseph Gough b. abt 1845 were living with George and Ann Savilla Allgaier in Scott County, Kentucky during the 1860 census. They are the children of Joseph D. Gough and Anne Savilla Jenkins.
