Mike,
Don Mattingly is a MD to KY Mattingly at least 3 times that I can think of. His father was born in Evansville, IN in 1915 not long after his family moved there from Beantown in Marion Co., KY. Beantown is located not far from St. Charles Church. Some of Don's father's older siblings were born in Marion Co. and have told me that they spent their summers in Marion Co. while they were going up, staying with relatives. They especially remembered riding in a horse and buggy over the Hardin's Creek bridge to attend church at St. Charles

I am by no means an expert on Don Mattingly however, I have gathered a bit on his family because of pressures from my own children and numerous cousins. Don is descended from Joseph Mattingly and Hessina Hinton. He is the youngest of six children as follows:
Parents:
William Daniel Columbus Mattingly 6-7-1915
Mary Louise Hofman 9-20-1921
Children:
Judy Ann 2-5-1941
Jerome Daniel 7-21-1946
Mary Theresa 5-2-1950
Randolph Charles 5-15-1951
Michael Jay 8-2-1955
Donald Arthur 4-20-1961
Don and his wife, Kim have three sons that I know of: Taylor, Preston, and Jordan.
