Notes - BRECKINRIDGE HERALD NEWS OBITUARY - 1966
Mrs. Cornelia Genevieve Mattingly at the age of 88 years passed away at her country home on Sunday, Dec. 18. The body remained at the Harry Dhonau Funeral Home until the funeral service Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rosary was said on Monday evening at 7 o'clock. Officiating for the funeral Mass was the Rev. Charles Fischer, pastor of the church. Following the service the burial took place at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery at McQuady. Pallbearers were grandsons including Ralph Payne, Shelby, Paul and James D. Mattingly, Donald and William Bland. Mrs. Mattingly, before her marriage, was Miss Cornelia Beavin, daughter of the late James and Rhoda Burdette Beavin. She was born Oct. 29, 1881. Since the death of her husband, she lived alone near the homes of her children. She delighted in housekeeping and though often hospitalized for the past months, she would return home and be happy to keep house again. Members of the family arranged to be in her house at night. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Payne of Clarkson and Mrs. Sam Bland of near Cloverport; two sons, James and Herman Mattingly of Cloverport, also 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
