Notes - Loraine McKenna, 87, a former bank vice president, passed away on Friday, December 25th,
at the St. Joseph Home, 759 Vermont Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, where she lived. Mrs. McKenna started work at Security National Bank in 1922 as a secretary to the chairman of the board, retiring as vice president and personnel director in 1967.
She was a charter member and former chairman of the Kansas City Chapter of the National Association of Bank Women, and director and former president of the Women's Chamber of Commerce from 1952 to 1954. She served on the legislative committee and practical politics committee of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.
She was a charter member of the St. Margaret Hospital Nurse Endowment Association and was a charter member and secretary-treasurer of the Kansas City, Kansas, area chapter of People-to-People. She was also a member of the Zonta International and the Council of Clubs.
In 1965, Mrs. McKenna was honored by the greater Kansas City professional chapter of Theta Sigma Phi for distinguishing herself in business and civic affairs. Her husband, Joseph B. McKenna, died in 1972 She was born in Henshaw, Kentucky, and had lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area most of her life.
She was survived by a daughter, Mary Louise McDonald, of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Emily Beaven, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Butler Chapel in Kansas City, Kansas, where the Rosary was said at 6:3-0 p.m. Services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter's Cathedral. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. The family suggested contributions to the St. Joseph Home.
