Notes - Evansville - Dorothy "Dot" (Russell) Greenwell, 88, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. She was born May 20, 1932 in Union County, Kentucky to the late Joseph Richard and Laura (Kibby) Russell.
Dot was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy. She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church for many years and later attended Annunciation Catholic Parish at Holy Spirit. Dot was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, I.U. basketball, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dan) Mooney, Donna (Dan) Spence, and Brenda (Jeff) Sills; son, Tony (Michelle) Greenwell; sister-in-law, Barbara Russell; grandchildren, Eric (Laura) Mooney, Aaron (Erin) Mooney, Deana (Brennen) Schenk, Sarah Sills, Adam Greenwell, Molly Greenwell, Danny (Courtney) Spence: great grandchildren, Grace Mooney, Will Mooney, and Rowen Schenk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Thomas "Lyle" Greenwell; sister, Sue Hagan; and brother, Thomas E. Russell.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Annunciation Parish, Holy Spirit, 1800 Lodge Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Alex Zenthoefer officiating.
Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of her husband at 701 N. Weinbach Ave., #510, Evansville, IN 47711.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Ascension St. Vincent for their kind and compassionate care.
