Kenneth M. "Sparky" Sparks, 69, of 120 E. Atwood Street, Galion died Friday, May 12, 2006 at home.
Born July 28, 1936 in Owensboro, Ky., he was the son of the late Everett Lee Sparks and Elizabeth Carter (Gough) Sparks. He married Sandra M. (Caldwell) Sparks on August 17, 1963 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1954 and the Columbus Barber College. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was raised in the Presbyterian Faith. He has been a barber for 45 years, starting in 1955 at Kroutes Barber Shop in Mt. Gilead then at Bauer Barber Shop in Galion until he went into the Army. After serving in the Army he worked at West Barber Shop until opening Sparks Barber Shop where he retired in 2002.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Caren Sparks of Galion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Fred Russell of Galion and Rachel and Jeff Hinton of Mt. Gilead; three grandchildren, Matthew Hinton, Josh Hinton and Mackenzie Sparks; a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Paul "Pook" Wildenthaler of Galion; several nieces and nephews including Jeff Wildenthaler.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett, Jr. and Gerald Lee.
Private services will be held for the family. The family will receive friends at the Spark’s home, 120 East Atwood Street, Galion from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006.
