*John Irvin Vize and Mary Aline Carrico were married, Feb 15, 1933, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Springfield, Washington Co., KY. They were married in a double wedding with her sister, Elizabeth Emily Carrico, to Joseph Edward Smith. It was the first double wedding performed at St. Rose Catholic Church.

John Irvin "Stubbs" Vize, 88, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 1987, at Medco Center in Springfield.
A son of the late John William and Annie Lavenia Clements Vize, he was a native of Daviess County.
He was employed by Nally & Gibson and later was a retired employee of the State Highway Department.
Vize held a commission of colonel on the staff of the governor of Kentucky in the honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was commissioned on March 17, 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Aileen Carrico Vize; five daughters, Mrs.
Lavenia Hamilton, Springfield; Mrs. Rhudell Mudd of St. Mary's; Mrs.
Catherine Marie Thompson, Louisville; Mrs. Bernadette Abner of Jackson, Ky.;
and Mrs. Margaret McConnell of Bardstown; four sons, Joe "Buck" Vize of
Springfield; Henry, Patrick, and Leroy Vize all of Louisville.
Also surviving are 55 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, and three
great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Corrine Mattingly Vize
on September 15, 1931.
Funeral mass was said by the Rev. Chris Allegra and the Rev. Joe Hayden at
St. Rose Church on Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons: Joseph l. McConnell, Timothy, James,
Frank, and Patrick Vize, Jr., Ronald Thompson,Thomas Mudd, Kenneth Hamilton
and Randall Abner.
A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hale-Polin-Robinson
