    • A biography of her husband stated that Catharine was born in Missouri, that her parents came to Illinois shortly thereafter, and Catharine did report Missouri as her birthplace in two census enumerations. However, her parents were married in Hancock County, Illinois, in 1836, and her elder siblings, Margaret (born in 1837), and Peter B. (born about 1838), consistently reported their birthplaces as Illinois.
